Have you ever been at a party and found yourself sampling the appetizers but secretly wishing you could eat the entire dish/bowl/platter of whatever-it-is-that-you-love? However, you know that would be embarrassing, so you don’t? Anyone?
An amazing cheeseball falls into that category for me. Lucky for me, my sister makes the BEST cheeseballs ever. I always tell her she needs to go into the cheeseball selling business.

Anyway, I plan to make her specialty aged cheddar cheeseball recipe this holiday. After all, what’s a Christmas in Canada without a cheeseball?
Cheeseball Recipe Ingredients
2 x 250 gram blocks of cream cheese, softened
1 280 gram block of aged cheddar (3-5 year old), shredded on the little shreddy side of the cheese grater
1 400 gram block of extra old white cheddar, also shredded on the little shreddy side
½ a red onion, finely chopped
1-2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp Tabasco sauce (or to taste)
1/2 tsp Worcester sauce (or to taste)
Salt & pepper to taste
1/2 cup sesame seeds (or sub walnuts or pecans)

Directions
Mix and mash all ingredients together, except sesame seeds.
Form into a ball.
Pour sesame seeds onto parchment paper (use a cookie sheet so the seeds don’t end up all over your counter and floor) and roll cheeseball over sesame seeds until fully covered.

Warning – This Makes a BIG Cheeseball

This recipe makes a BIG cheese ball… about twice the size of a cheeseball you would buy at a store. You can make one gigantic ball out of it or two regular-sized balls. My sister even made itty bitty bite-sized balls once. The options are endless really! 😉
For the batch in these pictures, I made two cheeseballs and will freeze one. If you plan to freeze a cheeseball, wait to roll it in the sesame seeds (or nuts) until after it is thawed. As well, it may change the texture but it won’t change the great taste.
Sister Tip: The key is for the cheese ball to have some bite with the Tabasco and Worcester sauce!
That’s it. Mash it all together, form it into a ball, and roll it in sesame seeds. #NoFail #ButSoGood
That’s a wrap on my 3 favourite holiday recipes that will bring me a touch of family this holiday season.

p.s. I am still not sure if cheeseball is one word or two.
