It’s comfort food season.  So let’s dig in!

When the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, I feel an urge to bust out my crockpot and cook up something warm and hearty.

Some of my favourites this time of year include macaroni and cheese, beef stew, butternut squash soup, or a bowl of meaty chili.

I’ll be the first to admit that having too many burners going at one time on the stove is a challenge for me and I’m not exactly a pro in the kitchen.  However, I do have a few traditional style recipes I love that are super easy and super delish.

You can rest assured that if I share a recipe, it means it tastes great and is truly #NoFail.

Plus, when a recipe reminds me of something my grandma used to make, I know it’s a keeper.

So, I present to you… My Easy, Hearty, Meaty and Traditional Crockpot Chili Recipe That Will Remind You of Grandma.  Is the title too much?

Crock Pot Chili Recipe Ingredients

It has only basic ingredients because there was not a chickpea to be found when my grandma made chili.

…and stir it all up! 🙂

Cook Time

Cook on low temperature for 4-5 hours.

I like to give it a stir once or twice during cooking but it’s OK if you aren’t home to do that, no problem!

Hot & ready to eat!

Garnish

If you’re like my son, load some shredded cheddar cheese on top.
If you’re like me, top with sour cream.
If you want to be really thorough, top with both.

Yum!

This feeds my family of four with plenty left over. I tend to serve it with rolls & butter and roasted broccoli or a salad.

Conclusion

It’s always fun to try a new recipe and even more fun when it’s super easy and satisfies your craving for a little comfort food too.  And as long as I don’t add chickpeas, my kids love it, so I’ll stamp it kid-friendly for good measure!

Enjoy, actually no, let’s go with savour, your comfort foods this fall! 🙂 KJ
